The state of sleep when you dream is called the REM state. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement, a physical reaction that really occurs when you dream. When you enter the REM state, your body is virtually paralyzed. During the REM state, the body releases chemicals into the blood stream that causes the brain to send a message to the nervous system telling it to shut down all operations. Scientists think that the reason for this is so that the body cannot act out things that are happening in the dream.

Lab Monkey Report The lab monkeys report a bit of an uproar in the ranks this week. The lab vendor came by asking for quotes on monkey brains and the head lab monkey quoted him $25 for girl brains and $100 for boy grains. The lab vendor inquired why the girl brains were so much cheaper and the head lab monkey informed him that the girl brains were much cheaper because they had been used. In an attempt to collect the money, we've had several boy monkeys bonk themselves on their heads with glass beakers. Luckily we've had no deaths but several cases of boy monkeys showing up for work late the next day.

Lab Rat Report The lab rats have announced the beginning of a major lab remodeling project. Unfortunately, they came up with the idea, design, and plans themselves without asking anyone else. The lab cats are angry claiming the lab rats purposely designed all doorways so small the cats could not get through them while the lab rats claim the small door design promotes better health and hygiene. Reeko asked the lab monkeys what they thought and they informed Reeko that they were not worried because the lab rats drew up the plans in the sand outside the lab and a major rainstorm is expected tonight anyway.

Lab Cat Report The lab cats say they have not had time to prepare a report claiming one of the lab rats slipped catnip in their sleeping quarters and they've been fast asleep for about 5 days now.
